On Falling Apart

Sometimes we just need to fall apart.

And we need to do it in front of someone.

We need to do it in front of someone who listens attentively. With no judgment. And in silence.

This is our time to scream and cry and rage against the indignities and capriciousness of life.

And to confess that the challenges and obstacles have become too much.

To divest ourselves of our demons in front of another who listens with love and compassion, is precious indeed.

By expressing and exposing the monsters that have informed our thoughts and actions, we free ourselves.

Being seen with love by someone when we are at our lowest. Our most wounded. Our most unsavory. Our most real. We learn to love ourselves a little better.

All acts of love carry a ripple effect. And few greater than the act of listening in love and silence while another sheds an unwanted layer.
